Nissan has been introducing electric vehicles (EVs) such as pure battery electric vehicle(BEV) and hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) to the market to take zero emission vehicle(ZEV) leadership. In EV, Li-ion battery is a core component in determining the vehicle performance, cost and reliability, thus we have been carrying out battery research for many years.
For EV application, the Li-ion battery is required to achieve high-level balance between of five major performance of energy density, power density, temperature robustness, safety and durability. In order to achieve this high-level balance, not only system level approach but also approaches based on fundamental understandings such as numerical modeling, diagnostic technology and material science are important.
In this talk, our fundamental research and expectation on all solid state battery (ASSB) for future EV application will be introduced.
