2D MXenes have attracted tremendous interest due to their great potential in plenty of applications, especially for electrochemical energy storage, but still suffering from the serious restacking-caused low specific area and long ion diffusion pathways. Here we report a self-assembly method, which enables the construction of MXene hydrogels with porous structure and thus excellent electrochemical performance for supercapacitors, including a mass loading/thickness-independent rate capability and a high areal capacitance up to 3 F cm-2, surpassing most state-of-the-art supercapacitor electrodes.
