Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry

Monday, May 9
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Hawaiʻi Convention Center, Level 3, Room 304B

The goal of this event was to discuss possible career paths for students and early-career professionals who face one of the most significant decisions for scientists: whether to pursue a career in academia or industry. The focus was on the factors to consider when transitioning from academia to industry (and vice versa), which could include career advancement, salary, work-life balance, workplace culture as well as individual skills, qualifications and career goals.

The event began with an introduction for each panelist followed by a moderated Q&A session. The panel session was followed by a networking session in which the participants had the opportunity to interact with the panelists and ask questions.
