Abstract

While Skyrmions and Skyrmion textures in magnets are already established research fields on all roadmaps of magnetic materials science research, the real role and perspectives of their electric analogues are still debated.

Here we would like to reflect this discourse and contribute to it by preseinting several recent interlinked theoretical and experimental results in the area of structural topological defects of nonmagnetic nature. In particular, to address vortex lattices with local Skyrmion topology, related lattice dynamics, new family of materials with genuine ferroelectric analogue of bulk DMI, and interaction of topological photons and phonons.
