This talk will highlight the recent progress of understanding and addressing the key challenges of CEI at high voltages for next-generation Li-ion batteries. Different characterization tools will be discussed to highlight how the fundamentals of CEI are being revisited from a different aspect to ensure the knowledge gathered is relevant to practical batteries. In addition, the utilization of advanced characterization tools to understand the single crystal growth mechanism will be discussed to inspire more revolutionary cost-efficient synthesis methods for single crystal manufacturing.
