We studied the multicaloric potential of ferroelectrics under simultaneous variations of electric field and pressure, unexplored to date. To achieve this, we conducted dielectric spectroscopy and calorimetry on ferroelectric ceramics near the ferroelectric phase transition under the simultaneous application of these two fields. These experiments enabled us to explore the pressure-electric field phase space and analyse the system's cross-coupling response. We also studied the thermodynamics of this multivariable system and constructed the 3D phase diagram. Our findings revealed that the multicaloric response offers enhanced possibilities that are not achievable with the application of only one of the two external fields. In this talk, I will detail what these possibilities are, demonstrating the potential and advantages of our novel approach. We expect that this study will provide valuable physical insights, opening up exciting opportunities within the broader family of ferroelectrics.
