Symposium EQ06-Two-Dimensional (2D) van der Waals Materials—Quantum Properties and Electronic and Photonic Devices

The expanding portfolio of two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials provides a versatile material platform to explore exotic quantum properties and enable technological innovations at the atomic limit in many existing and emerging fields. The goal of this symposium is to present the recent cutting-edge research and development of 2D materials, covering multidisciplinary topics in the new synthetic strategies and electronic and photonic device applications of 2D materials. A special emphasis will be placed on 2D materials’ device applications in the quantum information science, brain-inspired computing and heterogeneous integration. Both experimental and theoretical work will be included. The sessions will cover state-of-the-art advances in the large-scale synthesis methods of novel and electronic-grade 2D materials and their damage-free transfer techniques. This symposium will also feature topics on 2D materials based electronic, optoelectronic and spintronic device fabrication and characterization; 2D materials based memory and neuromorphic devices for in-memory computing; novel 2D material device architectures for quantum information processing and sensing; 2D material energy-related and sensing devices; 2D material biomedical and biosensing devices. This symposium expects to bring together a broad community of researchers from multidisciplinary fields, including condensed matter physics, materials science, device engineering, chemistry and quantum information science.

Topics will include:

  • 2D material devices for quantum information processing and sensing
  • 2D material memory and neuromorphic devices for in-memory computing
