Symposium CP09-Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science—Modeling, Analysis and Computations

Mathematical tools constantly evolve to address new challenges that arise in applied sciences. New computational approaches, advanced asymptoic methods enabling passage from atomic to continuum scale models, and new homogenization techniques in modeling of composite materials are among the recent developments that directly affect materials research. The applied mathematics and materials communities stand to benefit from the exchange of ideas at the forefront of their respective fields.

This symposium is intended to bring together materials scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and physicists interested in mathematics of materials. The goal of this forum is to highlight recent activity in modeling, analysis and computations across a broad array of interdisciplinary applications in materials science, including but not limited to liquid crystals, micromagnetics, active matter, 2D materials and metamaterials.
