The MonArk Quantum Foundry, with sites at Montana State University and the University of Arkansas, has established pipelines for automated exfoliation and assembly of layered 2D heterostructures to accelerate the discovery of novel 2D quantum materials. The foundry is comprised of a series of connected inert-gas gloveboxes that use both custom and commercially available equipment that convert bulk crystalline materials via an automated process of exfoliation, characterization, storage, heterostructure stacking, lithography, dry etching, and deposition to create layered 2D heterostructure device prototypes to accelerate 2D quantum physics research.
