In this work i will discuss the emerging properties of spin defects in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). i will show our efforts into engineering the negatviely charged boron vacancies and their use as quantum sensing probes. I will then show a new family of narrowband emitters that exhibit spin photon interface and discuss the potential origin of these new spin defects.
