MRS Meetings serve as an international stage for the examination and dissemination of current and emerging materials research. At the heart of the meetings portfolio are the Spring and Fall Meetings. Researchers from all scientific fields, backgrounds and employment sectors—from students to Nobel Laureates—converge at these events to exchange technical information, engage in broader impact programming, network with friends and colleagues and contribute to the advancement of materials research. Large-scale exhibits add to the interactive meeting experience, as companies from around the world present innovative products and services to the scientific community, and in turn, gather information to develop new products and partnership that drive innovation.
While Spring and Fall Meetings are at the core of the meetings portfolio, MRS continues to enhance its service to the global materials community by endorsing and co-sponsoring standalone technical workshops and conferences.
Upcoming Annual Meetings
The MRS Spring and Fall Meetings are essential for discovering and presenting the latest developments in materials research. The Fall Meeting, held annually in Boston, Massachusetts, is a premier event in the field. These meetings reflect the growing global, cross-disciplinary collaboration in materials research each year.
2026 MRS Spring Meeting & Exhibit
Symposium Proposals
- Proposals for symposia at MRS Meetings are solicited approximately 18 months in advance of a Meeting. Information on when and how to propose will be made available on each Meeting's respective home page.
- MRS requires a diversified group of four co-organizers with respect to gender and under-represented groups, region, emphasis (fundamental vs applied), and institution. Inclusion of translational research and industrial involvement is highly encouraged, as is participation of early-career/postdoc co-organizers.

Abstract Submission
- Abstract submission for an MRS Spring or Fall Meeting occurs approximately 5-6 months prior to the Meeting. Information and timelines can be found on each Meeting's respective home page or the Call for Papers page.
- Call for papers are posted approximately 10 months in advance of a Meeting.
- Subscribe to MRS updates or follow MRS on social media to be alerted of upcoming submission periods.
