Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentations

  • Contributed presentations are scheduled for 20 minutes.
  • Presentations are 17 minutes with 3 minutes for questions.
  • Standard audiovisual equipment available includes a laptop computer with Microsoft Operating System, an LCD projector, laser pointer and a screen. Microphones will be available in larger rooms.
  • Speakers should bring their presentations on a USB drive and load their presentation on the session computer at the break preceding their presentation time. (Before the start of the session or during the break.)
  • Meeting attendees plan their days according to the program schedule, so published presentation times must be maintained. It is important that talks not start late or extend past their scheduled conclusion because of equipment set-up or associated troubleshooting. Similarly, if there is a gap between talks, do not start the subsequent talk before its scheduled time.
  • ONLY minimal audio-visual assistance on nontechnical details can be expected from your session chair. Neither staff nor the audio-visual technician can be in each symposium room to help set up presentations. However, we will have technical personnel on-site to address unforeseen problems.
  • EMC is not responsible for the security of any personal equipment.

Poster Presentations

  • Each presentation will be assigned a space and will be labeled with the number of the paper (e.g. PS04) and the presenting author’s name. Each author’s usable space is 3.5 feet by 3.5 feet (approximately 1 meter by 1 meter.)
  • The poster boards will accept pushpins that will be available in the poster hall. Please return the pins at the end of your poster session.
  • Display your material in large print so it may be read from a distance. Print TITLE and AUTHORS in extra-large print across the top of your display. Be clear and succinct.
