Science at the Spallation Neutron Source Second Target Station

Wednesday, December 4
10:15 am – 10:45 am
Hynes, Level 2, The Hub Stage–Hall D

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has recently established a project office to further develop, and ultimately build, the Second Target Station (STS) at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). The STS will provide transformative new capabilities that both complement and greatly extend the current resources for neutron scattering in North America.

An overview of the STS conceptual design and its unique characteristics will be presented by Kenneth W. Herwig, Deputy Project Manager. The process for selection of the initial instruments that will be constructed as part of the STS Project will be outlined.
